Almost a year ago (8 months to be precise), things got to be A LOT.
Things were already a lot by that point, but I kept chugging along as best as I could. Then my three homeschoolers became 4 homeschoolers when their sister became ready for more structured learning, and my oldest started working on more complex material (welcome to 7th grade!).
It’s never easy juggling homeschooling, housework, additional business/work responsibilities, and a social life/family life and self care.
When things get tough, self care is the first thing to drop off the list of priorities, and that’s exactly what happened to me. I know you’ve all been there, too. There isn’t a mom I know who hasn’t been there.
Talk about burnout.
Once I realized that things weren’t sustainable the way they were going, I decided to make some changes. I started saying no. I started paring back. And I started taking care of myself.
Exercise came back into the picture. Some spa days happened. After two years of travel restrictions, we actually took a vacation.
Unfortunately, Alpha Unbound took a back seat while I was figuring out how to get my groove back, which was awful because I loved sharing book recommendations and homeschool advice.
The good thing is, I think I’ve gotten back to a place where I can find some balance.
If you’re feeling like this, know that your role in your family is so important and your mental health is essential.
Take the time to reevaluate how you spend your time. Say ’no’ with relish! Be ruthless as you cut out things from your life and your schedule that are driving you towards burnout.
Trust me, it’s worth it!
I’m so happy I did, and I’m thrilled to be back doing something that I truly enjoy. Stay tuned…. I have so much I can’t wait to share with you!
